THE LATEST ON THE CRISIS IN CONGO
Things took a tragic turn for our children in Congo and founder Matthew Leutwyler on Jan 24 , 2025, when he crossed the border to move them to a safe location after their village was attacked by rebel group. While there Goma became the epicenter of the war, trapping Matt and one of our children who had been shot in the fighting. See Matthew’s interview with the BBC HERE.
KURERA GIRLS FIRST INITIATIVE
Unfortunately for many African girls, a fifth grade education is the most they can expect. In Rwanda, primary school attendance for girls has climbed to 98% but only 30% continue on to secondary school and the numbers get lower for senior secondary and Universities.
Support for Communities
Though WAL’s primary goal is providing education and healthcare to orphans and in-need children, we also spend time cultivating relationships in Rwanda and Congo communities and helping provide food for families.
