WAL Student Update

Aug 11, 2016

Back in U.S. after an exhausting but inspiring and successful trip to check in on the orphans / students. We also helped our friend and WAL supporter Anton Laines do some research and shoot video on his Clean Water project. Overall everyone seems to be doing well and a couple more of the university students are set to graduate shortly. We have four more wonderful additions to our growing “family.” Below are two young girls from Gisenyi (Patience, 6, and Angelique, 8) who will begin school in September. They along with another new student ,Sandra, will move to boarding school in neighboring Uganda as part of a new program we are starting in January. We are in the process of interviewing several high quality schools there where we plan to send some of our more gifted children.

Their Stories:
As an infant, Patience was found on the side of a rural road by an elderly woman who took her in but is no longer healthy enough to continue looking after her. Angelique was orphaned several years ago and her sponsor recently stopped supporting her so she had to drop out of school. Thanks to our generous donors they will both be back in school, getting regular medical checkups, and eating three times a day.

It’s hard to believe that WAL has already been around for 4 years but we are now starting to see real growth in many of the children. Opportunity really is priceless.

We are also gearing up for the 4th Annual Celebrity Poker Tournament which will be back to its usual time of the year… Oct/November (final dates to come shortly).
